Dr. Rajneesh Malhotra is an experienced Cardiac Surgeon with more than 34 years of experience in cardiac surgery and cardiovascular care. He is currently associated with Max Healthcare as Chairman & Head – CTVS (Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery) and practices at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi. His areas of specialisation include Cardiac Sciences, Cardiac Surgery and Robotic Surgery.
Dr. Malhotra has extensive experience in the surgical management of complex cardiac conditions, with particular expertise in Heart Failure Surgery, Heart Transplantation, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD), Robotic Cardiac Surgery and Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery. His surgical interests also include minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), mitral and aortic valve repair and replacement, and atrial septal defect (ASD) surgery.
He completed his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow, followed by an M.Ch from the Institute of Cardiology, G.S.V.M. Medical College, Kanpur University, Kanpur. He subsequently received specialised training and fellowships in cardiac surgery, including a Fellowship in Cardiac Surgery at the Department of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery, University Hospital, Uppsala, Sweden.
Dr. Malhotra has also undertaken advanced international training in Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery at Medtronic Inc., Minneapolis, USA; Port Access Cardiac Surgery at the Heart Port Training Institute, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Da Vinci Robotic Cardiac Surgery at the Ohio State University, USA. He has additionally received training in beating-heart valve repair at the Myocore Institute in Minneapolis.
Throughout his career, Dr. Malhotra has held senior positions at leading cardiac-care institutions. His professional experience includes serving as Director – Cardiac Surgery at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurgaon, Senior Consultant in Cardiac Surgery at Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre, Delhi, and Chief Consultant at Durdons Heart Surgical Centre, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
His clinical expertise covers a broad range of advanced cardiac procedures, including heart transplantation, heart failure surgery, minimally invasive CABG, mitral valve repair and replacement, aortic valve repair and replacement, ASD surgery and robotic cardiac procedures. He also has experience with advanced cardiac support technologies such as ECMO and LVAD.
Dr. Malhotra is associated with several professional organisations, including the Indian Association of Surgeons, Cardio Thoracic Surgery Net (CTS Net), Indian College of Cardiology and Indian Medical Association (IMA).
