Dr. Viveka Kumar is an experienced Cardiologist and Interventional Cardiologist with more than 27 years of experience in cardiac interventions and electrophysiology. He also undertook specialised training in Interventional Cardiology and Electrophysiology at St. George Hospital, London, and Southampton University Hospital, Southampton, UK. His training has also included structural heart and TAVI programmes in the USA, Europe and Denmark.
His clinical areas include coronary angioplasty, peripheral, renal and carotid angioplasty, electrophysiology studies, radiofrequency ablation with 3D mapping, valvuloplasty, pacemaker and AICD implantation, ASD and VSD device closure, leadless pacemaker implantation and subcutaneous ICD implantation. He is also associated with advanced cardiac procedures involving aortic stent grafts, hybrid procedures and percutaneous closure devices.
Dr. Kumar has received several professional recognitions, including the Chikitsa Ratna Award, Vidya Ratna Award, International Award of Excellence in Cardiology, Dr. K. Sharan Cardiology Excellence Award and Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also received recognition from the Government of Iraq for cardiac services.
He is a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI), American College of Cardiology (FACC), European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and Southeast Asian Interventional Cardiology Society (FSAICS), and is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society (MHRS).
